Data Deletion
Last updated: August 19, 2026
Your OUTLRN data is yours, and you can have it removed whenever you want. This page explains how to ask for deletion, exactly what gets removed, the little we're obliged to keep, and how long the whole thing takes.
1. How to request deletion
Email founder@outlrn.com from the email address on your OUTLRN account, with "Delete my account" as the subject line. Tell us:
- The email address or phone number your account is registered under.
- Whether you want your whole account deleted, or only part of your data (see section 5).
Sending the request from the address on the account is what lets us confirm it's really you. If you can no longer access that inbox, write to us anyway and we'll ask for another way to verify ownership before we delete anything — we won't act on an unverified request, because a deletion can't be undone.
2. What gets deleted
A full account deletion removes:
- Your account and profile — name, email address, phone number and the exam details you gave us at sign-up.
- Your study data — every mistake you've logged, the mock test scorecards you uploaded, your answers on generated questions and flashcards, and the chapter-strength history built from them.
- Your generated content — the parallel questions and flashcards OUTLRN created from your mistakes.
- Your device and usage records tied to your account.
- Your newsletter subscription, if the address on the account is subscribed.
3. What we keep, and why
A small amount of information survives a deletion request:
- Records we're legally required to keep — for example transaction or accounting records, retained only for as long as the law requires.
- Aggregated, anonymised statistics that can no longer be linked back to you or your account. These stay in our usage totals because there is nothing personal left in them to delete.
- A minimal record that an account with your identifier was deleted, so we don't accidentally re-create it and so we can answer questions about the request later.
- Website analytics from www.outlrn.com. These are anonymous and aggregated and were never tied to your identity, so there is no record of yours to remove.
4. How long it takes
We'll acknowledge your request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days of verifying it. Data can persist in encrypted backups for a short period after that; those backups are on a rolling expiry cycle and are fully overwritten within 90 days. We don't restore deleted accounts from a backup.
5. Deleting only part of your data
You don't have to delete everything to delete something. Tell us in your email if you'd rather:
- Clear your study data — your mistake log, scorecards and chapter history — but keep the account itself.
- Remove a specific mock test upload or a specific set of logged mistakes.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter without touching your account. Every newsletter email also carries an unsubscribe link.
6. If you only subscribed to the newsletter
If you never created an OUTLRN account and only gave us your email address on this website, the only thing we hold is that address. Click unsubscribe in any newsletter email, or write to founder@outlrn.com asking us to remove it, and it's gone.
7. What happens after deletion
Deletion is permanent. Once your account is deleted we cannot recover your mistake log, your scorecards or the chapter-strength history built up from them, and neither can you — so export or note down anything you want to keep before you send the request. You're welcome to sign up again at any time, but you'll be starting from an empty account.
8. Deleting an account for a minor
OUTLRN is built for JEE aspirants, many of whom are under 18. If you're a parent or guardian and want an account belonging to a minor in your care deleted, write to founder@outlrn.com and we'll verify the relationship before acting on the request.
9. Questions
Anything unclear about a deletion request, or want to know what we hold on you before you decide? Email founder@outlrn.com. Our full data practices are set out in our Privacy Policy at www.outlrn.com/privacy.
