Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
OUTLRN ('we', 'us', 'our') builds tools that help JEE aspirants find and fix their mistakes. This policy explains what information we collect across our website and app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what the app collects as you use it, and what this website collects automatically.
- Account & contact information — name, email address, phone number and exam details you provide when you sign up for the OUTLRN app.
- Study activity — the mistakes you log, mock test scorecards you upload, chapters you practise, and your answers on generated questions and flashcards.
- Device & usage data — app version, device type and general usage patterns, collected to keep the product working and to see which features are actually used.
- Website analytics — anonymous, aggregated visit data from this site (www.outlrn.com) via Vercel Analytics. It does not use tracking cookies and does not identify you personally.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Run the core product — classify your mistakes, generate parallel questions and flashcards, and track which chapters have turned from weak to strong.
- Maintain and improve the app and this website, including fixing bugs and understanding which features help and which don't.
- Send you service-related communication — for example, about your account or changes to these policies.
- Keep the platform secure and prevent misuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your study data to train models for any product other than OUTLRN.
3. Cookies & analytics
This website uses Vercel Analytics to understand traffic at an aggregate level — which pages get visited, roughly how fast they load, and where visitors come from. This data is anonymised and is not used to build a profile of you individually. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your data. We share information only in the following situations:
- With service providers who help us run the product (for example, hosting and analytics providers), bound to use your data only to provide that service.
- If required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request.
- As part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we'll make sure your data continues to be protected under an equivalent policy.
5. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your data, we can't guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's privacy
OUTLRN is built for JEE aspirants, many of whom are under 18. If you're using OUTLRN as a minor, we expect a parent or guardian to be aware of and consent to that use. We don't knowingly collect more information from a minor than is needed to provide the product, and we don't use minors' data for third-party advertising.
7. Your rights & choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time by writing to us using the contact details below. You can also opt out of non-essential communication whenever you like. We'll respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know through the app or this website.
